Happy New Years, blah, blah, blah

Another whole year has passed.... yea. Can you feel my excitement? Overall, 2010 was fairly uneventful for me - which I'm totally okay with (kinda). Stayed at the same job, stayed in the same home, stayed with the same husband, stayed doing the same things.... I did get a new cat, so I guess that's something! Perhaps 2011 will be better.....??

Let's discuss New Years resolutions, shall we? Why they are good:
1) Make you step back and take a look at your life and what needs to change.
2) Creates a goal for you to accomplish - it's always fun to put your mind towards doing something.
3) Ummm... okay, maybe just two good things.

Why they are bad:
1) You will likely set an unrealistic goal that you will not meet.
2) If you're actually going to step back, examine your life and figure out what needs to change, you may want to take some time to do that - therefore, making a decision at 12:01am on January 1st while you're likely slightly drunk is probably not a good idea.
3) A resolution to change can be done at any time. For example, maybe I'm setting a "January 4th" resolution. Is there anything wrong with that? Would it have been better for me to do it three days ago??

Two positives, three negatives. We can therefore concluded that resolutions are bad.

However, here are mine. Why are mine not bad? Because I have been needing change for a while and have been thinking about it for awhile, I am setting realistic goals for myself to accomplish and I watched "Julie & Julia" last night and it's motivating me.

Drum roll pleases......... here are MY resolutions:
1) Read 25 books this year
2) Eat better
3) Work out on a regular basis
4) Lose some fucking weight

How am I doing on these things? Good question. Here's an update.
1) I have read nothing yet this year..... I'll get on that.
2) I have been eating better. Not totally great just yet, but better. I had (gross) oatmeal with flaxseed and a hardboiled egg for breakfast. I promply followed it up with three handfuls of ju-jubes, but felt gross for doing that, so I figured that was good.
3) It's only the 4th, give me a break. However, I do have a plan in place.
4) I'm pretty sure I have yet to lose weight. Let's not discuss this just yet, okay?

Okay.... Four days in. I'll keep you posted.
